1984 Style and Theme

Theme:
1. Intimidation - the posters all over the place that say "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU"
2. Hate - "hate week" for Emmanuel Goldstein
3. Love/sex - Winston's constant battle with his feelings for Julia
4. Betrayal - "traitors to Big Brother"
5. Corruptness - the government constantly covers things up and changes history to match what they want

Style:
1. Short sentences - "I adore it."
2. Long sentences - "Tragedy, he perceived, belong to the ancient time, to a time when there was still privacy..."
3. Repitition - "DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER, DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER, DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER..."
4. Political slogans - "War is peace..."
5. Italics - some dates mentioned in the novel, "April 4th, 1984", etc.
